Guided tours of the Kirchner Art Museum and Alpine Botanical Garden Schatzalp

Days: Tuesday 10.9.

Meeting point: Entry of Kirchner Art Museum (5 Min from Congress Center) at 10:00

  • 10-11 :30 : Guided tour of the Kirchner Art Museum, dedicated to the expressionist painter Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, who lived in Davos form 1928-1938.
  • 11 :30-12 :00 : Take the funicular to Schatzalp.
  • 12 :00-13 :30 : Lunch at the historic Schatzalp hotel (individual choices not included in the price)
  • 14 :00-15 :30 : Guided tour of the Alpine Botanical Garden Schatzalp at 1800 masl
  • 16 :00-16 :30 : Take the funicular down to Davos again or walk down (about 3/4h along well-marked trails)

Prerequisits : Closed shoes. No specific prerequisites. Only short walks.

H1) Explore the Dischma side-valley with lunch at an Alpine Hamlet

Days: Wednesday 11.9.
This excursion can be booked by congress participants and accompanying persons. Ideal if you want to do something together on Wednesday in Davos.

Maximal number of participants: 90

Depending on your level of fitness and ambition, three options are available with a joint lunch at an Alpine Hamlet:

  • Take the Davos local bus to the Alpine Hamlet and back, and just join for lunch. If you feel like, hike back individually to Davos along well-marked trails that cannot be missed.
  • Hike to the Alpine Hamlet along easy but ascending (400m altitude) trails on the valley bottom with a guide and take the bus back (or hike back individually if you prefer).
  • Take the Davos local bus and hike on a more rugged, but safe path at the end of the valley (about 1h). Explanations on the geology and hydro(geo)logy of the valley. If you feel like, hike back individually to Davos along well-marked trails that cannot be missed.

For all options, you have lunch together at an Alpine Hamlet with a choice between Fondue and the local speciality Capuns.

Cable car ride and hike to an alpine cheesemaker at 2028 masl

Days: Thursday 12.9.

Meeting point: Davos Platz Train Station at 8:45.

  • 8 :45 : Meet at Davos Platz Train Station
  • 9 :00 : Cable car ride to Jschalp (1930 masl)
  • 9 :30-10 :30 : Hike along well-established path with little vertical gradient to Clavadeler Alp (2028 masl)
  • 10 :30-13 :00 : Demonstration of cheesemaking, cheese tasting and lunch
  • 13 :00 -15 :00: Hike back to the cable car station and ride back down

Prerequisits : Hiking shoes. Good physical conditions. No mountain skills required. No exposed paths.
